A Win98SE machine on my network won’t boot. Here’s what’s happened:
I ran msconfig and deselected all Iomega entries on the startup tab (the machine used to have an external Zip drive attached). Next I rebooted and the display got as far as loading the cd-rom driver then froze with a fast-flashing cursor in the bottom left of the screen. I rebooted to Safe Mode and ran Scandisk which did not detect any errors.
Next I booted into Safe Mode and removed each Iomega program entry fromthe Add/Remove Programs applet in Control Panel, rebooting each time, each time having to restart and select Safe Mode. Next I tried to boot to a Command Prompt without success.
Next I booted from a startup disk and ran Scanreg /fix, which successfully rebuilt the registry, but I still could not boot normally.
Does anyone have any ideas?
