I cannot get my new sata drive (cloned from ata) to boot.
Background: I added a WD Caviar 500gig sata HD to my ASUS P4S800 MB (no sata support), so use a new Promise TX2300 pci/sata card to run it. I have existing two ata drives 1st is WD120gig w/3 partitions 1.WinXP pro, 2. data drive, 3. Vista Home Premium. 2nd drive is WD80gig w/2 partitons 1. data, 2. data. I dual boot Vista and WinXP pro. The new WD500gig HD installed and formatted w/o incident. I then used Acronis 10 to clone my WD 120gig drive into new WD 500gig drive. That completed with no errors. I then unplugged the cloned drive and booted. Promise driver asks which drive to boot from, I select the new WD500gig drive, then Vista dual boot menu asks which opsys to boot, I select Vista, and then I get error that winload.exe is not present in windows directory. It informs me I have to repair windows with windows DVD and restart. But, doing such does not come back to this point. I expect a clone to be exact duplicate, (in past when cloning an ata to an ata, the new clone ata drive just booted and no other issues, but here the sata is mnot. Any ideas for resolving this? thanks
