Cannot boot into safe mode

By Twors88 ·
I have recently run into several computers that will not boot into safe mode. When you select safe mode, it begins to load the drivers then abruptly restarts. Units can only be booted normally. They have viruses which are preventing this. What can be done to get them to boot into safe mode? Any software or procedures that can be done to get this to happen?

Most likely, a full wipe and reinstall.

To find the BSOD error, uncheck the "reboot on failure" setting that is so stupidly set by default by the Windows installation process. Try booting to safe mode again to get your free error code.

I've run into this before, and chances are that even sfc /scannow or a repair install do not work. Replacing the safeboot registry key with a known good copy does not work. Even after the malware has been entirely removed. You can try these things though, in case they might work for you. You must remove all the malware first, or you can forh=get about even trying.

Back up the data. Entirely wipe the drives (not just reformat) by deleting partitions and overwriting the drive securely with a tool like DBAN (free). Reinstall OS and apps.

I had this same problem a few weeks ago only mine would not re-start mine would just show the BSOD. Did a system repair and now it goes into safe mode every time.
