Cannot boot XP CD ?

By gurjeit ·
I am using HCL PC. I've got XP Media Center 2005 SP2. i upgraded RAM from 256 to 768 and installed DVD W/R(Sony) with Combo(Samsung). Earlier every thing was gonig file till i got a virus in hard disk and removed it with antivirus(e-Trust). And tried to repair windows MCE through original bootable CD. When ever i try to boot from CD the cd is detected by system and message comes:
"Press any key to boot from CD..."
"Please wait while setup is inspecting hardware...."
After few minutes disc stop run. i can't get to blue screen where written:
"Windows XP"
Then i tried XP Prof. SP2 which has a same problem. Then repaired BIOS and formated hardisk(SATA) once but still not able to boot XP and XP MCE.
But able to boot XP Server 2003. i know there is no problem with harddisk. Currently installed Fedora6.
Need urgent help. Please .... mail me at if u know the solution the the problem.

You need either the original Install Disc

Or you need to add the SATA Drivers at the very first blue screen by pressing the F6 key and then inserting the SATA Drivers copied to the Root of a Floppy.

Oddly Enough

I had the same problem today when I was reinstalling Linux (Yeah I know not a good comparason)

I was reinstalling my linux but first I wanted to format my hard drive, for whatever reason (mainly because its all I have on hand right now) I use the win XP utility on the CD rom to format my hard drive, and then before it compies windows componenets i reboot the laptop.l

either way, for whatever reason today, all of a suddent my laptop started doing this exact same thing when I try to the CD.

Hmm interesting. I'd like to see what people say about this.
