Cannot browse Windows network with Samba

by dave.prosen . Updated 24 years, 2 months ago

I am running a Linux box with Mandrake 7.2 on it. I have Samba set up on the Linux box, and I all users on MS network can browse the Linux shares, and I can see the Windows network using smbclient //servername/sharename -U username.
The problem isthat I cannot get the browsing to work through the GUI on Mandrake in the KDE control center; networking; Windows shares. I can see the domain in the file manager, but I cannot get to any shares, I keep getting prompted for user credentials, which I put in, but seems to do no good whatsoever, because they just pop up again. Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated. I am a relatively new Linux user, and really need to be able to do this task.
