Cannot Connect to Back office Small Bui

By micronet19 ·
I am currently working with about 6 machines and 1 Small buisness server. All the machines are using TCP/IP as the protocal. DHCP is enabled on the server and it is started. Wins is also enable on the server. The server is also running ms proxy. I have checked all configurations on all of the workstations and they all appear to match up to the tee. But for some reason 2 of the PC's are not connnecting. I have replaced network cards and it has made no differance the hub is responding with a green light which means the physical is there. The error that I am getting when I try to logon from the 3 tier logon is that "no domain server is available to verify you password at this time. I am not sure if it is the PC's config or if it is the Serverthat needs changing.

I will go for the usual suspect here.

On the server,
Check that TCP/IP Wins address points to its own IP address (10.0.0.2?) in both primary and secondary.

Open DHCP manager. You will need to add two options to the Global scope, off the top of my head they are 044 (NBNS servers), set to Ip of server and 046 (Node type) set to 0x8 (zero x eight).

Try and log in again. On client, open a dos box and type ipconfig/all or winipcfg. You should see a DHCP address and a node type of Hybrid.
If that fails, use the SBS console on the server and re-create the client setup disks and re-run them on the client.

Tony.

Verify that you have enough Licenses available for the clients to attach to the server.

The answer is that the windows 95 machine was network configurations files (winipcfg)were corrupted and when the OS was reinstalled it went back on the network without any problems. Setup was fine on the server just had to make issue out another ip for the other machine.
