Cannot connect to Internet, but can browse LAN

By mbaram ·
We are small shop with about 100 computers, SBS 2003 domain and Cisco ASA 5510 for firewall. DHCP managed by Cisco and DNS by SBS.

We started having random cases where a computer would get IP address, can connect to all LAN resources, but cannot get any external connectivity. Sometimes assigning static IP help, but now this fails as well.

Help!

Check DNS Settings

DNS is what you use to get outside of the LAN. Do an IPCONFIG/all and see that the DNS settings for DNS servers are correct IP address. Scott Lagerbom

can you ping outside your network?

by jjjj12212 In reply to Cannot connect to Interne ...

can you ping 74.125.155.147 (google) with one of your workstations that can't get online? If you can, its DNS issue, if you can't then look into your routing table or your cisco router. check why you cannot get out.

If you've checked your DNS settings

and they appear correct, you might need to check your gateway and netmask settings on the workstations unable to access the internet.
