I am trying to join an XP Pro Sp2 machine into a domain. The DC is running Windows Server 2003. When I try to join it I get an error that says “A domain controller for the domain ***** could not be contacted.” When I click on the details button it says that the DC was identified through a DNS query. The XP machine is using the server for its DNS, I can ping the workstation from the server and vice versa. I have checked the Host (A) record for the DC, it is both there and accurate. The XP box is getting the correct info from DHCP and I tried to put in a hard ip address. I’ve also tried rebuilding the tcp/ip stack. If anyone has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated.
