Cannot create an Exchange mailbox

After installing an Exchange 2000 Server in an existing domain and administrative group I can’t create mailboxes!
I open ADUC, I create the user, I choose to create a mailbox, choose the server and afterwords when I open the properties box I do not have any email address! Also if I open system manager, choose the server and storage group I don’t see any mailbox created!
