cannot create new zone in NT4 dns server

Hi
I am currently trying to build a new pdc for a small network which needs a dns server, as it will be hosting its own internet namespace. So far I have been unable to get any further than installing the dns server, because when I try to create the first new zone in the DNS Manager, the option is greyed out. Is there maybe something I am missing as regards the IP address of the new dns server? Any ideas?

thanks for that; it is useful, but I will need dns as well because I have a couple of Linux boxes. I tried setting up a Linux server, but so far all my attempts have been nightmares - NT was meant to be easier...

i suppose my question is; how do i set up the nic; i have put the local address for dns server on the nic, and the same for the dns service itself. is that right?

My network is behind a nat firewall; is it a good idea to use an internal server as primary, and one of my isp servers as secondary for all external queries?
