I am running Exchange 5.5 and cannot figure out how to delete certain public folders. They are displayed in Outlook when people log in, but when you click on them, it says:
"Unable to display the folder. Microsoft Outlook could not access the specified folder location. The contents of this public folder are currently unavailable. Either the Microsoft Exchange Server computer servicing this public folder is down or the public folder has not been replicated to this site. See your administrator."
I inherited this system, and cannot figure out when they were created or where they went. When looking in Public Folder Resources in the Exchange Administrator, these folders are not listed. I would love to get rid of these, especially before I upgrade to Exchange 2000. Any information would be helpful. Thanks!

Do you have any other 5.5 servers in your site that may be the home server for these folders? If so, you need to change the default server in the Administrator to the remote server in question and view the Public Folder properties from there.
Being an administrator you can open your Outlook, goto the public folder in question and delete it from there. Especially that it is no longer required.
I believe this article will help me solve the issue, however when reading the article, step #3 makes no sense. I cannot find an "Instances Property Page" or a "This inormation Store". The rest of the directions are easy enough to follow, but it seems like it skips something or assumes I know something. Can you clear up #3 at all?
You are correct..... #3 Is rather hard to follow. Try this:
1)Expand the "Servers" container in the left-hand pane 2) Then expand the server in question that's having the problem until you can see the "Public Information Store" 3) On the menu bar, click the "Properties" icon 4) Locate the "Instances" tab in the Properties applet
This is where I stumbled also, but WAS eventually able to get there after flailing round for a while.
Good luck, and let me know if you're still having problems. Also... if you want to walk through this "person to person" (what a concept, eh???), I can give you my phone number if need be.
If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem. Also please exercise your best judgment when posting in the forums--revealing personal information such as your e-mail address, telephone number, and address is not recommended.
