Cannot delete the file on NT4

By roman_empire ·
I am running NT4 SP6. I am trying to delete this one file but I always get the message: "Cannot delete 'filename': The parameter is incorrect." I've tried restarting the system, stopping all services, taking an ownership of that file and directorynothing works. I am also logged in as Domain Admin.

What is the file name ?? if it contains an illegal character or is a device name (i.e. aux) try using the POSIX delete command.

ie. rm <filename>

It is am orbitrary file, not a system file called company.jpg.

Your resolution did not help.
However I was able to login to that Nt server thru win95 client and deleted file in question.

It sounds like you might be trying to delete a system file. If you really want to delete it you could boot to a dos disk (via sysinternals read/write NTFS utility) and delete the offending file. However, if it is a system file why would you want to delete it. Just my 2 cents. Good luck.
