Cannot download any files in IE 6

Was able to download files before, now when I try to download just get a box with a red x in it my secutity is set to medium cleared all temp files deleted all cookies. I can right click and use the save target as that works, but like to fix the other problem. Am running windows 98 se and IE 6

Did not mention if under security -> internet -> custom level you have download files enabled or disabled.

Also most virus scans have the ability to deny downloads. Sorry only familar with McAfee.

Thanks have my security setting set at default which is medium, running norton security have that set the same as it has been

here’s a quick one to try…go to your add/remove programs & ‘repair’ your IE…click it as though you were removing it & choose repair from those options…

Thanks but already tryed that, also removed IE 6 went back to 5.5 still no luck. Went into the registry and removed all of internet explorer keys and reinstalled IE still no luck.
