This problem started two months ago and I have worked on it off and on since.
Computer = HP Pavilion ze5170
Operating sys = XP home
The problem is I cannot enter any information in the blank search areas of explorer or HP support to ask questions; ie if I try to renew Norton nothing can be typed in.
If I bring up the control panel and add/remove programs there is nothing listed there, even though all my programs are working.
I have I have searched for viruses and worms to no avail.
I cannot run a chat program because I cannot type anything in.
If I try to run Norton I receive ?error 30 unspecified error?.
If I try to run e-Diag Tools for Windows I receive Bios Error.
If I go to the start button and click on run I receive a message ?windows cannot create a shortcut here. Do you want the shortcut place on the desktop instead??
I receive the same message if I click on ?help and Support? or ?search?. The other programs listed initialize fine.
I am trying to avoid rebuilding the drive and would like a solution if available
