Cannot find DNS Server....

By Whatme? ·
I have a new machine with 98b installed on it. It has Explorer 5.x and outlook express. I hooked up to my ISP and everything worked fine. The machine accidentally was shut off and now when I click on Explorer or Outlook, it dials up connects properly then stops and displays... Cannot find DNS server. ALL my TCP/IP settings are correct as before. What can my problem be and how can I correct it?
Thank you
Merv

Ping the dns ip address(s) and see if u get a response. If not try deleting dns ip address(s) and put them back in.

Remove tcp/ip in network properties.
Restart the system.
Reinstall tcp/ip and configure it.
Restart the system.
Then replace the wsock32.dll file in windows\system.
Click on start\run and type sfc, then click ok.
Extract wsock32.dll from the 98' CD to the windows directory.
Restart the system in ms-dos mode.
Type 'CD system' and enter.
Type 'ren wsock32.dll wsock32.lld' and enter.
Type 'CD..' and enter.
Type 'move wsock32.dll c:\windows\system' and enter.
Type 'exit' and enter.
Seeif it works.
Good Luck!
