Cannot install anti-virus

The PC that won't upgrade, do you have another antivirus program loaded on the hard disk? (In addition to Norton?)
That is the first thing to check.
(Try removing it, then the upgrade.)
Have you tried the Norton uninstall program?
If that did not work did you try uninstalling using Windows Control Panel , Add/Remove Programs?
That is the second thing to try.
Once you manually get the antivirus program(s) out, installing the later version of Norton should work.

My answer nearly same as previous one. Some type of software (including antivirus)its extendared version does not suport untill completly remove the preious version.
remove preious version in 'Add/remove' utility at control pannel & some foders must included in the 'program folder' and 'Start/program'.
I pointout 3 places where those related folders availble.
Last 2 location go explore by write clicking start menu.

Install newly

Cannot install anti-virus

why not try install back the older version and upgrade it again or not uninstalled it and then upgrade it .
if it fails...try go to the registry to kill off the old client by removing all the norton entries, and in safe mode install the upgraded version.
Thirdly i think you have to get the proper upgraded version of your software version like eg: version 1.1.2 newer version might be something like 1.1.3 not 2.1.2 if all should fails, just becareful of what the programs you run and not installed any anti-virus cause i am not running any anti-virus anyway :))
Cheers~~

Cannot install anti-virus

I had a similar issue with Symantec Norton Internet Security 2001. I had it installed, and then I started getting error messages after 6 months of perfect operation, stating that I had to register the application again. This is what I had to do: Uninstall any instance of the application, including Norton Internet Security, Norton Anti Virus, Norton Clean Sweep, you get the idea. Then I went into the registry (Start, Run, Regedit) and did a find on Symantec, Norton, etc. and removed all instances from there. Shutdown and restarted, then I reinstalled the application as usual. This resolved my issue. Hope this helps with your problem.
