my experience

I've experienced that also when I try adding new printer and the wizard won't appear and will prompt you some errors or modules not found. Just try if it will work for you, reinstall the Windows service pack again (upgrade if possible). Make sure ntprint.dll is on your system and okey (see file information at http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=823447).

If you have in Device Manager, the partial printer setup, try deleting it.

Printer drivers are finicky things and tend to eat themselves for breakfast. (They never make it to lunch, as whatever they leave of themselves, Windows scavenges.)
