Cannot power up my PC after put it on Standby Mode

By bpham5 ·
My destop PC is running on Windows XP SP2. Yesterday, instead of shut down my PC as usual, I put it on standby mode. This morning I have been tried to power it up and nothing happening. I hold power up button for a few seconds and all I hear is a little fan sound running for 1-2 seconds and stop. I openned the cover and hold the power up button for few seconds again, and I see the CPU fan running for about 2 second and stop. Nothing else running after that. Is there anyone know what is going on or having any experience of fixing this problem?

Try NOT holding the power button in ...

Have you tried just pressing and then releasing the power button?

Depending on the motherboard/psu, by holding the power button in - you may be powering-up then powering-down again.

is there a reset button on your PC? If so, try that.

This should shut it down. I had an new HP tower that did this and we had to unplug the power supply to get it to shutdown.

Try Ken's suggestion

by turning the power off at the wall and disconnecting the power lead to the back of the PC. Reconnect it and turn on the power at the wall.
