I re-imaged a Compaq Presario 5360 with wid98. The process worked flawlessly and the computer worked fine, but the next day I noticed that the computer would no longer boot off either the same win98 install floppy or a window 2000 install floppy.
This made little sense to me because the computer and floppy drive worked after the win98 OS booted up. I was also able to start the computer and use the Windows 2000 install CD to upgrade the computer to win 2000.
I put the hard drive in another computer and put a clean install of win 2000 onto it successfully, but when I returned the HD back in the Compaq Presario it stopped booting right after the post. (The same thing it did when I tried using the installation floppies)
From everythin I’ve seen, it looks like the Compaq Presario itself, might be stopping me from re-imaging the hard drive twice. Is this true, or is there a jumper somewhere that I need to set?
