Cannot resolve netbios name locally

By mehuls77 ·
Hi,

We are using DHCP in which WINS, DNS and Node type parameter is assigned. In Node type it is been given Hybrid but when i see in the client configuration it's shows broadcast WHich in turn effect my local printing. As we r using ERP and printing setting is \\localcomputername\lpt1,
so as \\localcomputer name is been not resolved its gives an error : An extended error has occured and simultanously effets the printing.

So please suggest.......

Cannot resolve netbios name locally

by Michael2 In reply to Cannot resolve netbios na ...

LMHOSTS file resolves netbios names to ip addresses. there is a sample file called LMHOSTS.SAM in your Drive:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc On win9X I believe its in windows\system. If you edit it in notepad save the filename in quotes or notepad will add the .txt extension and it won't work. The file must be named LMHOSTS. This also assumes the DNS name is the same as the NetBios name of your computer. (This is the default)
