If Internet Explorer has been set to disable cookies, the search bar will appear grayed out.

Select the 'View' menu and select 'Internet Options...'. Click the 'Advanced' tab, select the 'Always accept cookies' radio button, and click 'OK'. Close and re-open Internet Explorer.

1) Select the 'View' menu and select 'Internet Options...'. (The 'Internet Options' dialog box appears.)

2) Click the 'Advanced' tab.

3) Scroll to display the 'Cookies' group.

4) Select the 'Always accept cookies' radio button.
The 'Always accept cookies' radio button

5) Click 'OK'.

6) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Close' to close Internet Explorer.

7) Open Internet Explorer.

Good luck.
