Cannot set a Static IP

By brent ·
Hi,

I'm having problems with two PCs. They are both displaying DHCP in TCP/IP Properties.

I can attempt to set the PC to static, but when I open the TCP/IP properties window again, it still indicates DHCP.

The static IP does take effect, but if I have to reboot, the workstation goes back to a DHCP address.

What can I do to resolve this?

With some older machines we needed to restart the PC after making the changes for them to take effect. If this does not work, consider reinstalling the OS

uninstall tcp/ip and reinstall it. You may need your windwos cd

I like answer #2, but if it does not work, I would suggest reinstalling the serrvice packs

Okay, are you using DHCP in your network? If so, do you have reservations for those two computers? If so, check the MAC address, and see if they match with the ones of your two "problematic" computer.
