cannot sign into windows messenger

I'm failing to sign into windows messenger. when i try to sign in with my email address (company, not hotmail), i get the message " Signing into Microsoft Instant Messaging failed because of a problem connecting to the service".

I'm using Exchange 2000 and my client is an XP Professional machine.

Sounds like someone "upgraded" to the standard verion and not the company client (exchange version)...

Go here:
http://www.microsoft.com/exchange/default.asp

and download and install the Exchange version of the Instant Messenging Client. "Top Downloads" on the right side of the screen, 5th on the list (currently anyway).


Configigure it for your Internal Exchange and you can also configure for external e-mail accounts as well. The IM client available elsewhere is not designed forExchange -- this one is.

that's what i downloaded already. perhaps you could tell me how to configure it for the internal exchange. instant messaging is already configured in exchange
