Cannot unistall Norton Antivirus

By elvislee73 ·
I have a computer with WIN98 with Netware client for Windows v6.5 and and Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition Client installed in it.

The Norton client will not get the updates from the Novell server, and the Live Update button is locked (company policy). I do not have the otion to download and install the update as it is against company policy.

I tried to unistall Norton, but because it was first created from a network share, now it cannot be deleted automatically as it gives error message saying that the shared location does not exist. I then tried to install a newer version of NAV and it keeps asking me for another disk, even though I have the CD with the full version in it.

Any ideas on how I can get to unistall, update virus definitions file or update the current version of v 7.51.847 to 7.51?

Thanks in advance

usually problems occur during nav corp are due to password setting in Administration console.
you will have to manually uninstall. follow these instructions from the symantec knowledge base for corp ver 8. it is close enuf to get the job done for your version. or you can google 'symantec manual uninstall corporate' to find some non-symantec support for your older version. so you can reinstall nav corp as an 'unmanaged' client (you will get the Live update button back but no automatic updates--you'll have to run live update yourself periodically (dailly)

Thanks a bunch for the prompt response. It helped me get the Norton out of the system and re-install the proper version.
