cannot update to usb 2.0

By paul.harding2 ·
I have just built a win xp machine 3 ghz 512mb asus mobo, I have installed win xp sp1, sp2. When ever I plug a usb device in I get an error that says "for better preformance you should install that device into a usb 2.0 port. I checked the device manager and it says that I have enhanced usb installed, so I can't figure out why I still get this error.

Would that be a socket 478 (for a Pent. 4) mainboard? Model P4P 800-??. ? [ ] We, and you too, really need the model #. Did the board come in a kit, or box? And did a CD come with it? If so, than after you installed the OS (WinXP) put the CD in and load the drivers from the CD, for your new board. That should help your problem. If not go to the AsusTech support site [ ] and see if there is an update, or updated drivers available for your Motherboard. Once again, you'll need the specific model #. ( that should be printed some where on the Motherboard, if you don't have the box it came in.) I hope that helps. -d

Seems that USB 2.0 isn't activated. Check the BIOS settings. My motherboard has a BIOS line: USB 2.0 Enabled/Disabled.

As stated previously we really need the model of the Asus M'Board here but when you have nothing else Flash the BIOS to the Latest available and then go through it to enable the USB 2 option.
