canon clc printing through a RIP on a wi

By joe ·
I have a client who has a problem printing to a Canon CLC (colour copier) through a RIP which worked fine upto recently using tcp/ip. I can ping the RIP from every machine but print error is message when I try to print. All drivers are upto date andreinstalled . I have tried both NT4 sp5 on one machine no good. Only thing that works is a utility called LPR spooler I can now print but clibration is very awkward, any help appreciated

LPR Spooler adds LPR printing to Win 9x. Win NT has LPR built in through Microsoft TCP/IP Printing. There is another program out there called ACIT's that does the same but is made here in the US instead of Germany. You mention that you tried NT4 sp5. If you have a NT Server present then you can install the printer driver local on the NT Server and share it out and connect to it from the client. You must have Microsoft TCP/IP Printing service installed and running and the port must be configured via LPR.
The newer system software versions for the Fiery's have windows printing also. It will broadcast it's IP on a peer to peer and will show up in your network neighborhood if the Fiery is on the same workgroup as your network. If you are in a peer to peer environment then this choice or using LPR Spooler or ACITs is your only choice.
I don't work on the Canon Fiery (RIP), but I do work on the Xerox, Ricoh, Sharp and Minolta Fiery's and most of the Fiery's are very similar.
Ifyou need futher help you can contact me via email blevinst@pctechnician.net
