Canon i9100 problem

by sigmagraphics . Updated 18 years, 4 months ago

Dell Dimension 9200, loads of free memory. XP.
My printer was working perfectly. Never had a problem, then… ran out of paper, got the error message, but before I could reload paper we had a powercut. Switched everything off.
When printer was turned on again, the amber and green light keep flashing and I can’t do anything with the printer. Switching it on or off, deleting and reloading all related files/drivers etc. does not help.
I went on line and followed instructions for a reset for Canon printers (i9100 not mentioned), holding down power and other button in a certain sequence to reset, it went exactly as planned but when I turned it off and then on as per instructions we were back to flashing lights.
This is relatively new printer that I can not afford to replace, besides I have a mountain of spare cartridges (sales promo price reduction).
Canon are absolutely no help at all and the last email told me I was out of time??????
Can anyone suggest something I might try, I am no geek but I know my way around the computer and can follow instructions.
Please can you help?
