Can’t access aol mail from remote locati

..locatoin. I apologize as I’m still new to PC troubleshooting. I’m trying to access an aol mailbox from my university computer lab. The workstation I’m on uses a DHCP server and I know aol does the same (dynamically allocates IP’s.) Is this thecause of me not being able to access my aol mailbox. Thanks for your input in advance!

The DHCP factor should not be a consideration. The easiest way to access AOL mail from outside of your normal AOL program is through http://www.aol.com and go to the Mail icon and sign in there with your screen name and password. If you cannot gain access there then a block on the AOL service might be in place by the University system admin.

Now if you are trying to use Outlook or some other email program to access the AOL mail then you will have a problem as AOL does not allow the SMTP and POP3 settings and thus you cannot configure it to access your AOL mail account. AOL is nasty that way.

Lastly if your using the AOL software with LAN settings and your able to access AOL and sign in but cannot get your mail to respond then most likely there is a AOL server problem, try later and if the problem persists then try AOL tech support at 1-888-346-3704.

Hope this helps and if you need additional info drop me a note.
