Can’t access internet. MS support coudn’t help, told to reinstall Windows.

All of a sudden my laptop stopped accessing the internet, the connection icon says the connection with my router is excellent, 100%. The computer was connecting perfectly before. The system restore is not restoring to any of the dates available prior to this incident.

I thought it was related to the Windows Firewall since I have been unable to disable it ever since. I get the following message when trying to access it,

“Windows Firewall settings cannot be displayed because the associated service is not running. Do you want to start the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service?”

After clicking ‘Yes’ I get another msg saying, “Windows cannot start the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service.

When I run ‘Ipconfig’ I get a message stating, “An internal error occurred: The request is not supported. … Unable to query host name.”.

When I do a ‘NETSH FIREWALL/Winsock RESET’ I get an OK and a successful message respectively.
