I recently purchased a new laptop with Vista Home Premium Edition. I have a desktop running XP Home Edition. I set up a network, put both in the same workgroup, etc., but I can’t access a share I created on the XP desktop from my Vista laptop. I see the XP box in my Vista network map, I can see multiple shared printers, and I can open the Shared Documents directory on the desktop. The problem is I can’t open another share I set up on the XP box. I get the “\\computername\sharename is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator…” blah blah error message.
When setting up the XP share, I enabled “share this folder on the network” and “allow network users to change my files”.
Any ideas? I’d really like to be able to move over my music and pictures without purchasing a large external drive to make the transfers.
Thanks!
