Can't Add Disc Management Snap-In in MMC

By Kearnsey ·
I'm trying to partition my hard drive, but I can't load the disc management. It gives me the error code
CLSI {DBFCA500-8C31-11D0-AA2C-00A0C92749A3}

And says it can't initialize the disc management snap in

I have tried to add the Disc Management snap-in in the MMC but got the same code, and the same for launching it from the start menu.

Any ideas? Any help is much appreciated.

Try this

To resolve this behavior, re-register the Dmdskmgr.dll file:
Click Start, click Run, and then type cmd to start a command prompt.
At the command prompt, type the following, and then press ENTER:
regsvr32 c:\winnt\system32\dmdskmgr.dll

No Luck

by Kearnsey In reply to Try this

Nope. Got a message from regsvr32 saying the module failed to load. And to make sure that the binary is stored at the spesified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary of dependent .dll files. Also tha the specified module could not be found. :S

Try diskpart

Edit: to add

you can also use sfc /scannow in the run box. It should repair any corrupt files.

Search for dmdskmgr.dll, and then register it.

Is you system32 directory in c:\windows\system32 or somewhere else?

If you don't have dmdskmgr.dll at all on your machine, download it from http://www.dlldll.com/dmdskmgr.dll_download.html and copy to your system32 folder and then register it using Jacky's command, but putting your (if it's different) system32 directory in it.
