Can’t Add URL To IE Trusted Zone

What do I have to do to add a local intranet URL to the “Trusted Sites” security setting in IE 5.5 on a Win2000 Terminal Server? The “Add this site to zone” field is grayed-out, as are most of the other options. I’m on the console as administrator.

This page describes registry settings for Internet Explorer:

Looks to me like you want to delete the one named SEcAddSites, orat least set it to zero.

None of those keys are in any of the ones that are set, either on the terminal server or on my local machine. I have a feeling it’s being controlled by the Group Policy applied to the terminal server container, but I’m not sure which item. I’ve looked through them and most aren’t even configured, which would leave it enabled by default.

OK, up the points. Doesn’t anyone have a clue? I’ve tried going into the registry, which is so far the only way I’ve seen to do it.

I’m sorry to say this, but have you really tried to input a proper link? Don’t paste but just type it, i.e. http:/….keep typing… This is because I checked mine which I think has a similar setting to yours and it was gray too. But I typed a link by hand and it turned black meaning it is working. So I was done typing and clicked add, then it added the site I typed into the list below which is that of AOL.

      Just a suggestion. Good luck!

Thought I had tried this, but just tried it again. It won’t let me type anything in it, even when I’m logged-in as administrator. I AM able to add it directly to the registry, but it’s HKLU and not global. Thanks for trying to help.
