Can’t browse List of Users

by load"*",8,1 . Updated 24 years, 7 months ago

I have recently set up a Win2k server and all of my user accounts. Now I have begun to run Policy on my client PC’s (Win 98).
It seems that I can no longer browse the list of users to grant sharing permissions to resources located on my client PC’s.

I discovered this error when I was trying to set up individual Policies within the Config.pol located in the netlogon folder on my server. When I try to browse to find a user I get an error which says: “An error occured while trying to access the Address Book Provider.” and I can’t get the list of user accounts I would normally get.

I also get an error when trying to grant permissions to shares from my client PC’s. Normally I would get a list of the user accounts located on my server, but instead I get an error which says: “You cannot view the list of users at this time. Please try again later.”

Both of these errors occur when logged in under my administrator account and my user account. Oh, and we also just started loggininto a remote MS Exchange server for our e-mail (to which I am not an administrator). I suspect this might also be causing the problems because I think I was able to grant shares even under policy. All of my network settings appear correct in the Microsoft Client and in Access Control.
