Can't browse the internet

By Binsaad20 ·
I have a system running on windows 7. I connected a USB modem provided by my GSM provider and browsed successfully the first time but suddenly i can't browse anymore. I tried every possible thing suggested by many fora but to no avail including uninstalling norton, disabling firewall, winsock fix, ip config........... I even installed an antispyware but i can't still browse. I tried pinging google, com and it replied. I don't know what else to do.

installing firefox. When you install it do not import settings from IE. Or you could try using IE without add-ins. Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools, and then click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).

If it works then an add-on is your issue. Still not working post up and let us know.

If you are using IE go to tools, internet options under the connections tab select LAN settings, see if "use a proxy a proxy server for your LAN" is checked. If it is, uncheck it and see if you are able to browse the internet. If not, then i would suggest trying a different browser and see if that resolves your issue.

A couple of things to check

by TobiF In reply to Can't browse the internet

Check that the modem correctly registers in the network. (The network name should be visible in the connection software).

Then, check with you mobile operator that the service is still active. (i.e. that your bundle and prepaid balance are still fresh etc.)

Next, check that your browser does not use any proxy.

If you have checked everything above and you still don't have any success, then, with the connection active, start a command window and issue the command ipconfig /all and post the result here.
