Can’t change MTU…

by cyberghost_1 . Updated 21 years, 11 months ago

I have been trying over the last couple of months to change my MTU to 1500 as instructed by www.broadbandreports.com. I have DrTCP and TCP Optimizer, both display that my MTU is at 1500, although on all tests I have performed I get the results that my MTU is set at 1490. To the best of my knowledge I am not using a Router, or FireWall. What is the deal with that? Here is my connection…Cabble Modem>10Mbps Ethernet Hub>another 10Mbps Ethernet Hub>My PC. The reason for the 2 Hubs is I have 2 PC’s using the same modem and I don’t have a Cat cable long enough to reach one PC so that I can use only 1 Hub. I have a Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC. The cable modem is a Mototola SB5100 SURFboard Cable Modem. Connection is 64kbps advertised. Cables are CAT 5 and 10. Input please !!!!!!!
