Cant connect to server/browser on a dial

by stngfan1 . Updated 24 years, 6 months ago

I have a 2000 server running a financial package, that can be accessed by a web browser. It works fine for LAN people. When you dial into our LAN then try to connect to the server, it gives you the standard server can?t be found error message.

I can ping the server, and I can surf the net from the dial in. I just can?t connect to the server using the web browser.

We have other devices that can be managed by a web browser, and on the dial up I can connect to those too.

We type in theaddress as http://servername/directory from the LAN, and the financial package starts, from the dial in I get the error message. This is the same structure I use to connect to the switches in our network. It works fine for both types of connections to the switches.

Dial-ins our 2000 pro PCs, that connect through a Shiva unit. We are not using Active Directory.

Is there a problem with the LAN or the financial package?

Any help in corrected either one would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
TM.
