Can't Copy/Move or Drag Items

By dmoore ·
I have a Win 98 machine sp1. It for some reason doesn't have the ability to allow the user to Copy/Paste or Move items anywhere in the explorer or desktop.

I have reinstall Win 98. (Doesn't Work)
I have reinstall SP1 (Doesn't Work )

My only other option is to possibly the registry. Can anyone tell me how I may fix the problem without reformating and reinstall?

Try uninstalling Internet Explorer and then reinstalling it.

If that doesn't work, go to Microsoft's web site and download the IE 4 Service Pack. (That's right, IE *4*, even if you're using IE 5).

That worked for one user I knoww of.

My first impression is that its a Y2K issue. I know how cliche that sounds, but I would look at your bios too. It just sounds like a hardware/software compatability issue. I know this sounds like its comming from "left-field", but it is just a hunch that I have.....but I could be wrong.

Good luck,

System already tested last year for Y2K compliant.
