Can't delete a folder in Vista.

By archmagusmicael ·

To cut a very long story short, I've somehow got a Folder named k\windows on my C Drive (windows sees it as C:\k\windows).

Unfortunately I can't seem to find a way to get rid of this folder, as Windows assumes that the folder's path is actually within C:\k\ (which doesn't exist).

Is there any way that anyone knows of (short of wiping the hard drive) to either get delete or rename this folder? (As you'll probably guess it's the remains of my old windows installation, and is happily taking up a fair bit of my HD space).

If your description is correct the Folders name is K

Not K\Windows The Windows is a Sub Folder of the K Folder and if Windows has been installed to this folder you do have to wipe the HDD and reload as it will be impossible to delete.

If this was thinking that it was on the K Drive it would be displayed as K: not K :)

Can you boot from a Windows CD into a Recovery Console and delete it from there?
