Do you mean that you try to connect with a remote desktop? then you'll need XP pro or another software to do so (VNC for example)

Please a little better description of what you are doing. Are you using a home network or is this a company? Are you going to start and right clicking then explore to go to another computer?
Or are you opening the network neighborhood and trying to get to another computer?
Are you trying to use Remote desktop or remote assistance?
If it is a home network what type of modem/router or other device do you use to connect your computers?
The XP computer, dose it have SP2 installed? Because there is a way to let you interact but you need to do some things.

Are you trying to view the other computers files. If that is the case you need to set up a user account on the viewed machine.

Then set the user privilages to administrator, or what ever level you want.

You need to have the root c: drive shared or the folder that you want to view shared.

Create a new share of the drive or folder.
