Can’t export csv file to Excel in XP SP2

    Locked

    by sgreene727 ·

After installing XP SP2, users can no longer export a report in csv file type to Excel 2000. Now it no longer shows the prompt to use Excel and opens in an html worksheet with all data in column A. Same settings on file type as on another system with SP1 which opens to Excel normally.

Found nothing on MS website – any suggestions?

Are you tryig to use the file to open Excel or Excel to IMPORT the file?

If the former, try openign Excel and importing the CSV file.

It may be a file open issue that can be changed VIA TOOLS>FOLDER OPTIONS>FILE TYPES>Open With.

If you can explain in a LITTLE more detail exactly how you are trying to inport the csv, I may be able to help.

      Good luck!

Open my computer. Go to the toolbar and click on Tools and then Folder options.Click on file types. Look for the XLS extention under registered file types. Highlight and click on Advanced. Make sure the “Confirm open after download” box is checked.Click OK. Close out of there and try again. Let me know if this helps.

I too ran into the same problem. I also tried opening the .csv file in other programs as well, but with no success. If anyone has a answer it would be appreciated.
