can't find a driver

by fenaikh In reply to can't find a driver

Hi
there are 2 option to try:
1- visit to download cd-rom god.

http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,7147,00.asp

2- create win98 boot disk then boot from it which has most CD-ROM compatable drivers.

Good luck

Mohamed

You may still be able to get the driver from Mitsumi.

If not, go to www.driverguide.com I'm sure it is posted.

I don't know if there is enough room to add the Mitsumi driver onto the Windows 95 boot disk.

You should be able to load the driver onto a floppy, and install the driver from there.

Another option, place the harddrive onto another system, create a directory such as Win95, and copy the Windows 95 CD into that directory.

That way, you can install Windows, and install the CD driver along the way.

THE SECOND OPTION FROM THE FIRST ANSWER IS BEST. CREATE A START-UP DISK ON A FLOPPY FROM A FRIENDS WIN98 MACHINE.
Click on the task bar Start button.
Click on Settings.
Click on Control Panel.
Double click on Add/Remove Programs.
Click on the Startup Disk tab.
Click on the Create Disk button.
If this is a win 95 machine then it may ask you for the win 95 cd so take it with you and...
At the prompt for the Windows 95 CD-ROM click OK
If you have the CD, insert it now. The next dialog box will prompt you for a diskette in Drive A: When the diskette is in A: click OK.
The startup disk will give you options such as "startup with cd rom support". Also you can go here and download a boot disk which includes a generic CD driver which should work. Select the first one, TechWorm ver 5.3c.
