Can't go to Secure Internet Sites

By fredi.greyling ·
My PC is part of a domain. I'm using Mozilla Firefox. You connect thru a proxy server to the internet. I can browse any web site except for secure ones. Every time I try to go to a site my machine prompt me for a proxy server userid and password. Why?

Are other users aslo using Firefox as their browser? If so can they access the site(s) you want?
Ask your sys/admin to check your security settings. Also you might want to try using IE to access those sites before you approach anybody.
If you can access the site(s) with IE and not Firefox you'll know it's the security settings for Firefox.

Same questions as the previous two responders..

In addition, what proxy server software are you using (if any)? The reason being that there is a known bug in IE6 that prevents it from accessing https sites when proxy server settings were defined along with NTLM authentication being used to login to the proxy server. I'm not sure if the same exists with Firefox.
