wireless connections...

by julian.bennett In reply to cant go wireless

Assuming you have a working broadband connection from your ISP, and that you've successfully installed your Belking wireless adapter...

Open Network Connections and highlight your wireless adapter (Control Panel - Network Connections. To the left under the heading "Network Tasks" is an option to "View Available wireless networks", select this option, and then highlight and connect to your wireless network, the name of which will be documented in your Netgear paperwork and/or on the device itself.

When you attempt to connect to the wireless network you'll be prompted for a security key (also documented with your Netgear stuff), enter this key exactly as it appears in your documentation, you'll be prompter to confirm the entry.

Once this has been successfully entered a connection will be negotiated between the devices and you can browse the internet at your leisure (ensure you have no manual proxy server or dns server entries!)

hopefully this helps

Belkin wireless G USB network adapter - not detecting connection

by rajkochi2001 In reply to wireless connections...

Hi Julian,
I have bought one BELKIN Wireless G USB Network Adapter. I have a perfectly working internet connection. My BELKIN Wireless G USB Network Adapter is not detecting the DSL router after I enable security in it. But when the security is not enabled, it detects and works smoothly. I tried giving the exact password into the WEP encription settings but did not work out. Whereas my laptop (wifi enabled) working in Vista has very soon detected when given the security password and is working perfect. Could you please advise me how to go about the BELKIN Wireless G USB Network Adapter to make it detect internet connection even when the connection is security enabled?
