can't hookup wireless to network
I have a laptop that I would like to connect to the rest of the computer in the office network.
It is a peer to peer with the workgroup name"workgroup".
I hooked a wireless linksys router to a empty port on the Gateway router and the laptop gets a wireless signal and connect to the internet but I cannot get the laptop on to the Workgroup.
Says that permission is denied, contact the system administrator.
There is no special security on this network.
I did encrpyt the wireless network but it did not connect when there was not encrysion setup either.
The laptop has XP.
ANy ideas?

You need to login as administrator to change the workgroup name.
You need a username on the other PCs to connect to resources on other PCs in the workgroup.

The new laptop is set for auto login. Othere PC's can be seen on the computer I am trying to connect to. I feel it something to do with the link sys router connected to the Gateway router. I am on the wrong track?

Make sure your laptop is on the same subnet at the pcs on the rest of the network. make sure you can ping other pcs in the workgroup. On the router(s), make sure your office network is 'Trusted' so that it can allow all traffic incl. File and Print Sharing.
