Can’t install Microsoft updates
LockedI am in the process of burning everything having to do with IE5.5SP2 before Microsoft’s cutoff date 12/31/2003. In the course of this hunt, I have located 7 Critical or Security updates which I did not know about. Part of this problem is that Windows Update web site does not always recognize that I am using IE5.5SP2, and wantme go use IE6 which was the majority oppinion of everyone on this web site that I dump IE6 as fast as possible, therefore, Windows Update failed to tell me about these 7 updates I found through other Microsoft download sites. The problem is this, I downloaded the 7 updates, but when I go install them, It tells me I must be using IE5.5SP2 to install them. As as I have been telling Microsoft Customer help for that last three days, I am using IE 5.5SP2. So far ther responses have been a big joke, and I will not bore you with them. Let be enough to say that they know how to gather material, but they know little about answering a question.
In May, 2003 I had an update 810847 which caused the same problem. Customer Service collected everything but my first born, and said the problem was mine, but just a minute a tech person at Microsoft sent me an email with a method for getting these types of updates successfully installed. His method worked, but I have miss placed his email, and so far microsoft has not found it either, if they have even looked. Does anyone know how to get these updates installed?
I am sure that unlike Microsoft you will give me and answer and not some answer which looks like you never read the question, because from some of the questions and suggestions I am getting from Microsoft, apparently, they do not read your email before the MATERIAL COLLECTION BEGINS!!!
Thanks I needed to vent that. If anyone is really interested in the type of gobblegook I have been getting from Microsoft feel free to email me and i will provide you with some good laughs.
