Can’t Join Domain

by a_tank . Updated 25 years, 5 months ago

I have Compaq Presario laptop with a built in Ethernet adapter. I have configured it to use DHCP from our NT server. From the server, I can see the laptop in user manager, and network neighborhood, and can ping its given IP from the server. However the laptop cannot ping the server. When I try to log on, it says “there is no domain available to validate your password”. When I run winipcfg, it lists all of our DHCP servers etc. However the MAC address for the card is “FFFFFFFFFFF”. Isn’t that just a broadcast address? I have to assume that the right drivers are installed for the on board Ethernet adapter(Intel), because Compaq Tech Support told me they don’t know the specific brand of card installed on this laptop. Any Help would be appreciated
