Can't load Monitor

By steven_bellamy ·

Hoping someone can help.

Whenever I try loading monitor from the console, I get the following error message on a NW6 Sp2 server.

Loading module MONITOR.NLM
NetWare Console Monitor
Version 12.01f 6 February 2003
Copyright 1989-1998, 2002 Novell, Inc. All rights reserved.
SERVER-5.60-**8: Loader cannot find public symbol:
for module MONITOR.NLM
Error processing External Records.
Module MONITOR.NLM NOT loaded

Any ideas?

SERVER-5.60-**8: Loader cannot find public symbol

Sounds like the service pack did not install correctly.Reinstall sp2 and see what happens.
The above error is indicative of file not getting copied correctly from a service pack.

Just had a similar experience trying to install SP3, On the second try, nwconfig.nlm was unresolved. Monitor.nlm should be in C:\nwserver, if it isn't you can use the file browser in Consoleone to copy it there if that is the only nlm you find missing. I don't recommend sp3 at this time. I am still in a state of limbo on the install.

A library (probably clib) currently loaded on your machine does not support the function call that Monitor is making. I suggest reinstalling the latest SP to get the correct version of the library. Also look for other applications that you have loaded that may have their own version of Netware's system files (Netware's version of dll ****...)

Did you install the NW56UP*.EXE patch?
I applied it on my NW6 SP3 server and it broke the Monitor with the same exact errors you posted.
I went back to c:\NWSERVER and switched back to the original SERVER.EXE from SP3 and it fixed the problem for me.
