It sounds like you didn't get the user accounts back after you re-installed NT.

Try adding a user to the new box and then try to logon as that user. If this works you will have to re-create your users. If not, you have a corrupt registry.

Thanks.....Jeremy

Thank Jeremy, no is not a user account problem, after my research i have found the answer what happen is after full restore it over write part of my new SID and it confuse the PDC cause machine account has the incorrect role [broken trust relationship] from the domain, I re-join the domain and it work OK.

Is this a PDC BDC or Member server???? If it's a member server or BDC go to your PDC and delete it out of Server Manager and recreate it. When you reinstall NT and do a restore you get a new SID regardless of what you restore. If it's a PDC and you don't have many users recreate them by hand. If you have several users try running your old (before you upgraded your hardware) Emergency Repair Disk. This process will restore the SAM.

Next remove trouble server from PDC by using server manager and recreate it, synchronize the domain, and then the client rejoin the domain.

This is definitely a SID problem - when you reinstall NT you get a new SID and this will not change back by restoring from a backup. Assuming that you have another server in your domain, you can resynchronize this server's SID with the other server's SID - and this will effectively restore your server to BDC status on the domain. Then if it's supposed to be a PDC you can promote it. You can synchronize the SID using a program called NewSID - it's freeware, go to www.sysinternals.com and download it. Follow their instructions carefully. Good luck!

Thank! for your info, this didn't help my problem, here is the correct answer.
logon as local administrator on problem server change workgroup name to anything, to leave the domain, reboot and logon again as local administrator.
Next remove trouble server from PDC by using server manager and recreate it, synchronize the domain, and then the client rejoin the domain.
