Can't map a drive to a remote pc

By atiglao ·
I can ping the remote pc but I can't map a drive to it. I want to map it so that I can connect to its floppy drive and read and execute the information on the diskette that is inside that remote floppy drive. That pc is on a different subnet and on the same mask.
Any suggestion is highly appreciated.

Basically the user of the remote PC needs to share the drive so that you can access it.

I will assume that there is a share created on the remote system that you are trying to attach to. Your issue may be name resolution. Can you ping the system by name?
Options to provide name resolution can include using a WINS server, possibly having to add the remote system as a static entry on the WINS server or editing your local "hosts" file. Editing the host file is not a good answer for a larger network.
