As of last week we could map users to a Sequel Server that we use for specific apps. Last Friday we installed Norton Anti-Virus Corporate Edition onto a different server that we have an internet connection on. Now as of the following Monday, some of the users are unable to map to the Sequel Server using the IP address. The users are able to map using the server NAME, just not the numeric IP address.
I don’t think the anti-virus should have affected anything, but I have seen stranger. The anti-virus is not yet installed on the users though. And again, the anti-virus was not installed on the Sequel server.
And some of the users are still able to map to the server using the numeric IP address. There seems to be no relation whatsoever in the users who can and cannot map using the numeric IP address. The application we use on the Sequel Server, however, seems to care HOW the drive is mapped. If we map using the numeric IP address the programs run fine. If we map using the server name the program runs but we are unable to do any reporting.
Does anyone have any ideas?
